New York Giants at Washington Redskins

December 21st, 2009 | by ryanjohnxxi |

As the season winds down the cool winter weather has come early in Washington.  Very early in fact.  The Redskins have had a disappointment of a season up to this point.  The Giant have had a tough season as well.  After going 5-0 the Giants were sailing easy.  After a thrashing of Oakland, Antonio Pierce opened his mouth and likened that contest to a “scrimmage”, calling that contest too easy.

From that point, the Giants eased themselves to a four game losing streak, and going 2-6 down the stretch (most recently finding themselves at the wrong end of a fire fight with the Philadelphia Eagles) .

Let us not kid ourselves either, the Redskins have had probably a worse first half of any team in the league.  They are not deem the Lions or Rams of the league but lost and almost to their teams, respectively.  There was negligence in the front office as well as coaching booth. Head Coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his play calling duties in favor of Sherm Lewis, who was initially brought in to simply be an extra set of eyes. Bug_Eyed

vinny-cerrato-012308This was all the handy work of Vinny Cerrato, or as we were publicaly led to believe.  His claim that he had given Jim Zorn a “Playoff team” was met with much scrutiny.

Now Cerrato is gone and the team he has left is slowly but surly playing that fabled playoff team he once talk about.

Tonight’s Game:

I expect a hard effort from both team.  I continue to mention that I am no longer picking the Skins to win any games from here on out.  But should the Burgundy and Gold pull it off, I would not be surprised.

For the Skins Albert Haynesworth seems to be the only player questionable.  Mike Sellers and DeAngelo Hall both took good amounts of work this week and should cleared to play.  On the Giants, McKenzie and Corey Webster are reportedly out.

The Giants and Skins are two teams fully capable of playing in the elements.  The old rule of not being able to pass or kick in these conditions are untrue when it comes to these two teams.

If I were a betting man I go Giants 27-24.  Giants still miss the playoffs, and the Skins head towards a big time match up with Dallas.
